Virgin America announces growth plans, orders 40 Airbus jets

Preparing for a major expansion, Virgin America on Thursday announced it will buy 40 new narrow-body jets from Airbus. By 2016, the discount airline plans to have 90 aircraft in its fleet, double today's level. CEO David Cush says the jets will be needed to support Virgin America's expansion blueprint, which calls for three new destinations per year.
