Poll: More providers turning to SDN to simplify provisioning

Developer demand for simplified provisioning is leading to increased interest in software-defined network technology, which in turn is prompting vendors to pay top dollar to bolster their SDN portfolios. VMWare shelled out $1.26 billion for Nicira, a provider of SDN solutions, which the company plans to integrate with its data center and cloud offerings. According to a poll from Infonetics Research, the open-source OpenFlow specification is among the most popular solutions, with 80% respondents saying they plan to consider it when choosing SDN products.
