ACC's chemical activity barometer indicates strengthening U.S. economy

The American Chemistry Council's Chemical Activity Barometer reflected an improvement in the U.S. economy's growth, from "slow" to "moderate," as the indicator registered a 0.2% increase to 93.0 this month -- the highest since CAB started last year. The indicator "is signaling a moderately-improving U.S. economy into early 2014. Although other recent economic reports have been mixed, fundamentals appear strong, with housing demand still growing and consumers still spending," said ACC chief economist Kevin Swift.
