Balding cat needs to see a veterinarian

When an older cat starts licking the hair off her abdomen and hind legs, it's time for some expert help, according to veterinarian Laural Casler. An underlying health problem such as fleas, environmental allergens or a skin infection could be causing the cat to lick so aggressively, and a visit to the veterinarian can assess these possibilities. If a physical condition is not found, Dr. Casler says behavior modification including anxiety treatment and increased play may help.
