China consumer confidence edges up

Beijing's efforts to boost domestic demand may be paying off, with an uptick in consumer sentiment in the second quarter. Nielsen's China Consumer Confidence Index came in at a reading of 110, up two points from the first quarter. "Despite the overall growth slowdown of the Chinese economy, Chinese consumers' perception about personal income and spending intentions show steady growth from the first quarter," said Yan Xuan, president of Nielsen Greater China.
