Gulf gas well blows out, forces evacuation

A well owned by Walter Oil & Gas in the Gulf of Mexico blew out and leaked natural gas, prompting the evacuation of nearly 50 people, authorities said. The incident occurred while Hercules Offshore was using a jackup rig to ready the well for production. Efforts to control the well are underway.
