House follows Senate lead in fight to stop patent trolls

The House of Representatives is considering legislation that would make it easier for companies to fend off frivolous claims from so-called patent trolls. The bipartisan bill, dubbed the Stopping the Offensive Use of Patents Act, parallels similar legislation in the Senate and is part of a groundswell of opposition to companies that acquire intellectual property with the sole goal of pursuing litigation.
