Ill. city council decides against selling mansion, park

The Evanston, Ill., City Council has rejected a proposal from developer James Pritzker to convert the historic Harley-Clarke mansion into a privately owned boutique hotel. The city-owned mansion is home to the Evanston Art Center. Two council members have apologized for a lack of transparency in the proposal process, which sparked protests from residents opposed to selling the mansion and surrounding park.
