NASA program hands out grants to 12 futuristic projects

A NASA program focused on space travel is providing $100,000 grants to 12 projects. The projects include "potential breakthroughs for Earth and space science, diverse operations and the potential for new paths that expand human civilization and commerce into space," said executive director Jay Falker. Ideas include an ultra-thin, flexible lander and a 3D printer that theoretically could be used by astronauts to replace body parts.
