Pa. districts work to comply with healthier meal standards

Lawrence W. Mayes, superintendent of the Antietam School District in Pennsylvania, said his district has been changing menus for more than a year to comply with federal standards for healthier school meals and snacks. In the Wilson School District, nutrition professionals say they also are working to make meals healthier by eliminating chocolate chip cookies and hot chocolate as a la carte items and reducing the size of soft pretzels.
