Talks between the U.S. and European Union to find a solution to further reduce global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from aviation continue. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is working to reach a resolution on a market-based plan by September. Nancy Young, Airlines for America’s vice president of environmental affairs, said the industry’s strong backing of a market-based emissions plan should give ICAO "very strong momentum to reach an agreement” which would be "a glide path toward a single market-based measure by 2016." The next ICAO assembly is scheduled for 2016.
