British supermarket turns rotting food into power

A British supermarket chain has devised an innovative use for groceries that go bad before they are sold: let them rot and use the gasses as a sustainable energy source. The Sainsbury chain will feed food waste into anaerobic digesters, which mimic the digestive tract of cows, ultimately producing biomethane that can support the store's energy needs.
