Study: Discharged hospital patients at risk for blood clots

Discharged hospital patients are at risk for developing blood clots, and few are given medications to prevent them, according to a new study. Researchers say the results indicate the use of in-hospital deep vein thrombosis prophylaxis could prevent some cases of clots. A second study found that anti-clotting drugs prevent most cases of clots but don't reduce the rate of death among patients.
