USGS report indicates vast Arctic reserves

The U.S. Geological Survey said in a report Wednesday that the Arctic may hold one-fifth of the world's undiscovered, technically recoverable reserves of oil and natural gas. The race to claim territorial ownership of the resources already has begun as the ice caps melt, making the Arctic more accessible to shipping and exploration.
