Congress will wait on financial watchdog

Committee action on a measure to create a federal Consumer Financial Protection Agency has been postponed until after the August recess, as lawmakers in Congress focus on health care reform, according to this article. Although the delay was requested by the IAB and other ad and trade groups, the IAB is not necessarily against the bill. "We just don't want to see a major overhaul of the consumer protection laws rammed through before we have an opportunity to analyze the potential impact to the online advertising space," said Mike Zaneis, the IAB's vice president of public policy.
