Federal dollars may force states to use test scores to evaluate teachers

The Obama administration is proposing that Race to the Top stimulus funding for school innovation not be given to states that refuse to use student performance in assessing teachers. Some states have laws preventing the use of test scores in teacher evaluations. Education Secretary Arne Duncan will direct the $4.3 billion in Race to the Top money to states that make school reform and innovation a priority.
