Draft EIS issued for multibillion-dollar wind project in Wyoming

The Bureau of Land Management has issued a draft environmental impact statement for Power Co. of Wyoming's 2,500-megawatt Chokecherry and Sierra Madre wind project near Rawlins, Wyo. The 1,000-turbine wind project, which is likely to cost somewhere between $4 billion and $6 billion, would be one of the world's biggest, the utility said. Construction is expected to begin in 2012 or 2013, the utility added.
