Ad industry urges more transparency on mobile data gathering

The ad industry is responding to growing online privacy concerns by urging mobile application developers to be more transparent to consumers about personal data collection. Suggested rules from the Digital Advertising Alliance and the Network Advertising Initiative take into account mobile's ability to provide precise location data and the ability of some apps to access a device owner's contacts, directory information and photos.
