API disputes report that ties Keystone XL to increased oil sands output

The American Petroleum Institute disputed a report from the Natural Resources Defense Council that suggested that building TransCanada's Keystone XL pipeline would trigger an increase in oil sands production. Production and transportation projects related to oil sands are already on the rise, which was not considered by the report, said Cindy Schild, API's senior manager for oil sands and refining programs.
