AT&T beats the Street as device sales soar

AT&T exceeded analysts' estimates in the second quarter, posting $32.1 billion in revenue on record smartphone sales. The carrier sold 6.8 million smartphones during the three months ending June 30, adding more than a million smartphone subscribers, according to a Q2 earning report. AT&T also continues to make solid gains in the tablet space, with 763,000 of the devices connected during the first half of 2013.
