Etsy prohibits products using endangered-animal material

Online retailer Etsy has banned products made from animals designated as threatened or endangered, including chinchilla fur, alligator skin and elephant ivory. The rule exempts art made by Native Alaskan artists. "The US government has found that the preservation of Native Alaskan culture is important enough to merit an exception to the Endangered Species Act, and Etsy agrees," the company's blog says.
