Family history of one cancer may boost risk of other types of cancer

Women with a close relative who has been diagnosed with breast cancer had a more than twofold greater risk of developing ovarian cancer, according to a study that examined family histories of cancer. Italian researchers also found that men were more than three times more likely to develop prostate cancer if they had a first-degree relative with bladder cancer. The study was reported in the Annals of Oncology.
