FDA goes after companies selling illegal diabetes drugs

The FDA has sent notification letters of federal violations to 15 companies selling illegally marketed diabetes products and has urged health care providers to inform patients that the medications are potentially harmful. "Consumers who buy violative products ... are not only putting themselves at risk but also may not be seeking necessary medical attention, which could affect their diabetes management," said FDA Commissioner Dr. Margaret Hamburg.
