HSR work in Ill. totals $1.45B in contracts so far, says state DOT

Illinois has awarded $1.45 billion in contracts for high-speed-rail projects, according to the state's transportation department. Rail-infrastructure upgrades on the St. Louis-Chicago corridor account for about 50% of the awarded amount, with the rest going to other HSR-related projects, including professional services, equipment purchases, and upgrades to crossings and signal and communications systems.
