La. wants energy firms to pay for destroying wetlands

Officials in Louisiana will file suit today against energy companies they blame for degrading the state's sensitive wetlands over several decades. The lawsuit calls for the firms, including BP and Exxon Mobil, to be forced to pay for building a "mercilessly efficient, continuously expanding system of ecological destruction" by creating access and pipeline canals that killed vegetation and permitted saltwater into the wetlands.
