L.A.'s Millennium twin tower project needs to conduct new geological studies

The Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety has asked the developer of Millennium Hollywood to conduct further seismic tests based on concerns that the project will be built along the Hollywood earthquake fault. "They [cities and counties affected by the zones] must withhold development permits for sites within the zones until geologic investigations demonstrate that the sites are not threatened by surface displacement from future faulting," wrote State Geologist John Parrish in a letter to the City Council. Two towers, both more than 30 stories high, would be home to nearly 500 luxury condos, a hotel, offices and retail stores.
