MAPI forecasts a grim year for European manufacturing

Europe's manufacturing sector, already suffering from an uneven recession, is being further hurt by falling growth in the Czech Republic and Poland, according to MAPI's European Industrial Outlook. Eurozone manufacturing production is forecast to decline 1.1% this year and grow 2% in 2014. "Domestic demand continues to soften and businesses are refraining from adding capacity despite low cost of capital, gripped by political and institutional uncertainty," says Kris Bledowski, MAPI senior economist and the report's author.
