New-home sales spike as inventory remains tight

Sales of newly built homes in the U.S. increased 8.3% between May and June, reaching their highest level in five years, the Commerce Department says. Tight inventory pushed up prices. The median price last month was $249,700, up 7.4% compared with June 2012.
