Despite kitchen technology developments like the microwave and sous vide machines, most home cooks continue to prepare meals much in the same way they did 50 or even 100 years ago. Wooden spoons for stirring soups made popular in the Victorian era, frying pans similar to those used in ancient Rome and Le Creuset cast-iron Dutch ovens that won favor in the 1940s are examples of old-school tools still widely used.
