Parental deployment can affect mental health of young children

Children younger than 6 years can manifest similar levels of anxiety, depression, stress and aggression that some older children and adults exhibit in military families, according to a Child Trends report released on Monday. In order to reduce the psychological impact of military deployments on children, the report recommends improving mental health services for families, providing high quality care for military children and educating parents as well as caregivers on how to manage child behavior.
