Republicans crank up new electoral machine

The Republican National Committee has launched a new "50 State Strategy" designed to rival the Democratic electoral machine that carried President Barack Obama to victory in 2008 and 2012. The aim is to establish a field infrastructure that will endure beyond a single campaign, and will provide a voter-contact and turnout platform for all future candidates. "While the Obama campaign built this for one candidate, we are building a permanent campaign to help the Republican Party up and down the ticket," an RNC spokesperson said.
