Survey: 36% of docs call cost control a major responsibility

Mayo Clinic researchers surveyed 2,556 physicians and found 36% said they had a major responsibility in controlling health care costs, while more than half said doctors had some responsibility. The report in the Journal of the American Medical Association found physicians were very or at least somewhat enthusiastic about reforms to promote quality of care, but not keen on eliminating fee-for-service pay, reducing Medicare reimbursements or imposing readmission penalties.
