UK legislative panel suggests taxing HFT

The UK House of Commons Business, Innovation and Skills Committee says in a report that the government should impose a financial-transaction tax on high-frequency trading. The panel's intent is to discourage traders from making extremely short-term investments. In addition, the committee suggests that voting rights of longtime shareholders be strengthened.
