Akamai: DDoS attacks in Q2 targeted PaaS/SaaS vendors

Distributed-denial-of-service activity was up 22% in the second quarter compared with a year ago, and the average bandwidth of DDoS attacks was up 72%, Prolexic Technologies says. Almost half of Q2 DDoS attacks were directed at IT infrastructure, especially platform-as-a-service and software-as-a-service offerings, rather than applications and websites, Prolexic said.
