CDC takes steps to address safety issues

A CDC lab has been cleared to resume transfer of disarmed tuberculosis to lower-security labs after the agency instituted a ban following revelations about safety problems. The ban stands for numerous other CDC facilities until a safety review can be completed. The agency also has established an external safety advisory committee, and a new director of lab safety has been hired.
