CDC: Youths with Medicaid are more likely to seek treatment in EDs

In 2012, more children covered by Medicaid sought care in the emergency department than their uninsured or privately insured counterparts, according to a CDC report published in the NCHS Data Brief. ER visits for reasons other than a serious health condition were more common among children with Medicaid compared with privately insured children. Regardless of insurance coverage, 75% of ER visits happened when doctor's offices were closed.
