House to tackle short-term spending bill in Sept., Boehner says

The House will work on a stopgap spending measure in September after returning from its August recess, said House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio. Rep. Hal Rogers, R-Ky., chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, noted the chamber has a shorter work schedule in September, which could require fast approval of the bill to avert government shutdown on Oct. 1.
