Add-ons push Marine One costs higher and higher

Lockheed Martin executives say a long list of White House must-haves has complicated efforts to design and build the president's helicopter. Richard Aboulafia, an aerospace analyst, calls the new Marine One project "a classic case of mission creep." With all of the added features, "It's a helicopter being devoured by its own contents," he says. He estimates the overall program cost now is approaching $7 billion, not the $6.1 billion originally thought.
