FDA: 70,000 children visit ER for device-related issues annually

FDA researchers looked at data from about 100 hospitals from 2004 and 2005 and found that more than 70,000 children and adolescents were admitted to emergency rooms annually for medical device-related complications and injuries. They also found that about 34,000 of these complications were associated with contact lenses during the two-year period.
