Dilbert creator Scott Adams has three rules that are guaranteed to liven up any conversation. First, don't hijack the conversation to talk about yourself; second, don't talk about food; and third, make it your goal to wring an interesting story out of the person you're talking to. "Most people have at least one good story in them. And you can usually find that story by asking where the person lived and what their parents did for a living," he says.
