New highway interchange design curbs traffic congestion

Illinois transportation officials are considering a new interchange design to unclog traffic at the crossing of Highway 59 and Interstate 88 at Naperville. The so-called "diverging diamond interchange" design permits cars and trucks to get on and off an expressway without stopping or yielding to other vehicles, alleviating traffic backups.
