N.J. officials want state transit, Amtrak to work together

New Jersey officials are asking Amtrak and N.J. Transit to find a way to share one set of tunnels under the Hudson River, rather than each entity constructing its own. "The new administration needs to look at being more cost effective," said Joseph Clift, member of the Regional Rail Working Group, which advocates that N.J. Transit's tunnels connect to New York's Penn Station, where Amtrak operates.
