Why BP needs to start innovating

Now that it appears as if the Gulf spill has been more or less contained, it's time for BP to start innovating, writes Thomas D. Kuczmarski. By reaching beyond its own R&D department to foster industrywide innovation initiatives, BP could find ways to anticipate and prevent future catastrophes, he writes. "Shame on us all if the only lesson we learn is a strategy for plugging broken oil wells in deep water."
