The U.S. plastics resin industry produces more than $87 billion in revenues per year and directly employs 54,900 workers -- both resulting from its more than 85% growth in the past 10 years, according to the American Chemistry Council. "The average plastic resin manufacturer employee earns $85,400 annually [in 2012], more than 73 percent more than the average wage for all industries," the report says. Steve Russell, vice president for plastics at ACC, said the report shows "that the plastics industry is growing and creating good jobs. It's no surprise because plastics deliver great value. And, plastic makers will continue to make significant investments for further growth."
