Can year-round schooling help Va. district's students improve?

Petersburg, Va., officials are considering the possibility of adopting a year-round schedule for two schools with a history of low scores on standardized tests. Officials have agreed to apply for a grant to study a year-round model. Previous studies have shown that while there is a slight cost increase for year-round schooling, the school calendar includes frequent, shorter breaks without increasing instructional days.
