Cut PPI use as part of C. diff strategy, researchers say

CDC researchers said limiting use of proton pump inhibitors should be part of strategies to control Clostridium difficile infections. Data showed 27.7% of patients with C. diff had recently used PPIs. Researchers noted ensuring appropriate use of antibiotics and appropriate infection control measures are key, but PPI use also must be addressed.
