Denbury reaches settlement with Miss. regulator over well blowout

Denbury Resources and the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality have reached a settlement worth $662,500 over a well blowout two years ago in Yazoo County, Miss., involving carbon dioxide injections. The company maintains that such an oil recovery technique works safely. "Prior to commencing injections of carbon dioxide into an oil field, Denbury creates a development plan that includes an analysis of previously drilled well records," spokesman Ernesto Alegria said.
