Drug nonadherence prevalent in type 2 diabetes patients

Research presented at the ADA 73rd Scientific Sessions showed the one-year drug discontinuation rate among type 2 diabetes patients was 89% in those taking a GLP-1 agonist, 82% in those who took a DPP-4 inhibitor and 84% in those treated with other diabetes drugs. The findings highlight the need for better persistence with GLP-1 agonist therapy, the lead researcher said.
