How Panera got hurt by skipping breakfast

Panera has been focusing on lunch and dinner in recent months, giving rivals a chance to eat into Panera's share of the breakfast market. McDonald's, Burger King and Taco Bell have introduced menu items and earlier breakfast hours, forcing Panera on the defensive. "We are allocating more resources, including marketing and our loyalty program, around the breakfast offerings," said spokeswoman Linn Parish.
