India's apple importers turn to Iran as U.S. fruit costs rise

The depreciation of the rupee against the dollar is making it cost-prohibitive for India's fruit importers to bring in U.S. apples. Meanwhile, growers in Iran are supplying an alternative version of the fruit that's about half the price of Washington apples. "The importers are making more money to import from Iran rather than Washington," said distributor Manish Sharma.
